I dont think they realize how many boxing people use this page daily. Oh well, let them go. They picked a dumb time to do it with all their canterbury shows and that world tournament coming up. I heard it was because they dont like the "trash talking" on the LFR forum. Ryan, I hope you arent going to cave and post UMGG news anyways. They want to pull their support from this page then let them. Do they realize MARSH is one of the frequent posters on here? Thats a little hypocritical to me. Just my opinion.

Actually I'm surprised it took this long for the organization (UMGG) to separate themselves. LFR could be a great information tool but has become an outlet for immature ranting. I give Ryan credit for creating the site with good intentions. But am disappointed how out of date all the "important information" is and that is really does not support all the local gyms fairly as it claims to. It may as well be a myspace page.

Trash talk on the forum or not, LFR is the best source for info, hands down. ( Notice that nobody has bothered to update the amateur page at Minnesotaboxing.com since early in the year?) Bout coverage and pictures on this site are great too - thanks Ryan!
I think that separating UMGG from LFR is a big mistake, personally.

AS A MEMBER OF THE UMGG, INC., I'M SORRY THAT WE ARE NO LONGER WILL BE PAYING A MONTHLY SPONSORSHIP TO THIS WEBSITE, BUT YOU ARE NOT LOSING OUR SUPPORT. WE ARE BEHIND THIS WEBSITE AND VERY HAPPY TO SEE THE WORK THAT RYAN DOES. BUT MAJORITY OF OUR BOARD MEMBERS DIDN'T THINK IT WAS WORTH WHAT WE WERE PAYING. WITH OR WITHOUT ELSE OUR GOLDEN GLOVES PAGE, THE WEBSITE WOULD BE THE SAME. SOME OTHER INFO: ON THE GOLDEN GLOVES PAGE THEIR WAS NO MENTIONING OF THE UMGG TOURNAMENT THAT WAS HELD LAST APRIL. ALSO NO RESULTS FROM THE TOURNAMENT (EXCEPT FROM WEBB IN THE FORUM PAGE). I WAS DOING MATCHES FOR CANTERBURY A FEW WEEKS BACK AND WANTED TO CHECK PAST RESULTS FROM SOME CERTAIN BOXERS AND I COULDN'T EVEN FIND RESULTS FROM THE MAIN GOLDEN GLOVES TOURNAMENT IN THE STATE. AND ALSO, AND THIS ISN'T RYAN'S FAULT, BUT THERE ARE PROBABLY ONLY TWO OF US FROM THE UMGG BOARD THAT READ THIS SITE. I CHECK THIS SITE OUT EVERY MORNING WHEN I GET TO WORK TO SEE IF THERE IS ANY NEWS ON BOXERS OR SHOWS, OR WHO IS BOXING WHO. BASICALLY I'M JUST LOOKING FOR FACTS. ANOTHER THING, I'M STILL LOOKING TO FIND OUT WHO DID WHAT AT THE 4-STATE REGIONAL J.O. TOURNAMENT, AND ALSO WHO THE THE STATE J.O. UNOPPOSED CHAMPIONS ARE. RYAN, PLEASE KEEP THE SITE GOING AND KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. WHEN EVER YOU NEED ANY INFORMATION FROM US PLEASE JUST CONTACT ME. =TERRY MARSH

I think some of you are getting confused here.
LFR is the website with all content posted by Ryan, which she has 100% control of. The forum is a bunch of random people posting their personal opinions. While Ryan is expected to somewhat monitor the content of the forum, she is not responsible for anyone's personal opinions (whether it's immature ranting or not). There is a disclaimer when you enter the forum stating this. I think more people welcome an outlet for amateur boxing discussion than not. And please tell me what other website you would find out about upcoming shows or results??

I've talked to Ryan about this and it seems without the financial sponsorship from the local level it would be a hardship for her to keep this site going. It ain't free folks! We discussed the site at the Mn LBC 30 board meeting and USA Boxing will continue to support the site as we have in the past. The updating of information is something everyone can take part in...if you know something that you don't see on here you can email it to Ryan and she will update. One person cant possibly cover every single match or event. I don't recall any discussion of the site at the UMGG board meetings...I must have missed that one. But if only two of the board members have actually seen the site how could they vote not to support it? The results from the JO Tournament should come from the Jr Tournament Director (Henry Harper) or the Club/Sanction holder for the event (Brunettes). Same with the Regional results. I do know that Joey Claus is at the National JO Tournament right now and he defeated an opponent from California last night so he will box again tonight. He is the only Mn boxer at the Nationals. I also have to say I think it is a mistake for the UMGG to withdraw their financial support of this website as it is a valuable asset to the Mn Amateur community. I think they should reconsider at their next board meeting and maybe somebody with a laptop can show the rest of the board what it's all about.

Wow, hey pistol petey, it's cool you are hear to support this site. I am here pretty much daily for the same reasons. But instead of making a silly comment like that about mnboxing.com maybe you should "bother" to find out the facts. Most people know my story by now so I don't need to get into that. Minnesotaboxing.com was started covering the pro news. No disrespect to amateur boxing at all. I love watching that just as much. It is more about a time and reality thing though. I cannot keep up with the pro news and stories let alone everything else with the real work that I do in my life. I have tried. Shortly after starting my site I added the amateur stuff and was ringside to most of the city shows (that is where I am from) covering them. As you know this is a hobby, not a job and I simply could not keep up. I reached out to most every gym including out of city gyms at one point or another asking for help. It would take nothing more then 5 minutes to email me news on shows, fighters, everything and use my free website as a free way to let the world know what is happening. Brunette's gym was the only consistent place to contact me. You might say it is my job to call everybody or whatever but it really is not. I would love to , but It is not realistic. Most pro news I report is because they contact me. I say iwhy dont you take the time you take to make stupid posts dogging on a forum and send me anything you would like posted! But that won't happen, or hasn't anyways. It's funny though, the same people I hear that are upset or jelous of me talking about one gym but not theirs are the same people that don't feel like taking a minute to call or write to let me or Ryan know what is up.

Also Ryan, I know how frusterating things can be when you try to do a good thing like your website and you still get hated on for it. For every hater you get there are so many more out here that appreciate the time you put in. I hope you keep this site going though. When things get rough or overwhelming with school or job just take a break but things get easier so please don't stop the site! Keep it up, the readers will always be here and we need a place to find out whats going on in the amateur world because lord know you won't find it at Minnesotaboxing.com

Also, my apologies but I forgot about Terry Marsh, I would have absolutely no clue what is up with the amateur scene if for not only this site but also him!
