before I make any predictions I'm waiting for Region 1 to finalize who is actually coming in. Not sure totally about Caraway. And even the lighter guys. Lisa hasn't turned in her team names yet which is making it hard to plan ahead, like with hotel rooms etc. They allowed the guys from Rice St. in their region due to the fact that they were going to be in Spokane and will miss the Region 2 tourney.

Here's a sleeper: Joey Suda at 178#. A virtual unknown because he's only been boxing a short time, but he's tall, lanky, deceptively fast, and hits hard. I see him work out every week, and because he's still practically a novice, he's still getting better all the time.

Just a question and a comment or two. Did anyone else think Flavio Becerra beat Delorien Caraway Saturday night? I have nothing but respect for every person that steps into a boxing ring. But saying that, why would Vince Downwing and John LaPlante take that step? From what I seen, neither one could have spent much time in the gym getting ready for a fight. And if I've been fighting for 3 years and didn't know how to throw a jab or straight right, I would be looking for a new coach. I give them both credit for stepping in, but I have to ask, what for? Tavaras Roberts looked really sharp and should have earned some kind of award for the tournament. But if there was a Fightingest Fighter this weekend, it had to be Jeremiah Soft. It's been a long time since I've seen a fighter take that many hits and keep on his feet (at least for two rounds) and keep coming back. Sean Zavhar had some of the best upper cuts I've ever seen. I think with a decent draw, he might do some damage at the nationals. Anyone want to predict who will go far in the nationals? Besides Zavhar, I think Roberts and Zoo Vang will do well. Terry, it was nice to talk to your dad again. He seems to be doing fine and as always, loves the UMGG.....

I think Delorien will win a fight or two at Nationals. Sergio Garcia is great but has more of a pro style. Tavaras might win a fight, he looked really sharp.
